Hello! I’m Michael and I’m someone with too many interests to count. This website is my blog for random curiosities that I’m interested in or projects that I’m working on.

You can expect me to write on here in a mix of normal and formal/professional tones, but generally leaning more towards a normal relaxed tone. I hope you find something on here that interests you and that you learn something new from my posts!

Currently I’m undertaking an Integrated Masters MSci in Computer Science at Royal Holloway, University of London. I’ve completed my third year and I’m now completing my year in industry working in cyber security at National Highways until June 2026, which I will then return to university to complete my final year.

For the 2024/25 academic year, I was the Treasurer for Royal Holloway’s Cyber Security Society, which was an amazing experience hosting lots of different events. I’m proud of how our team built our community from zero to lots of active members with a large presence on campus!

My primary areas of interest are:

  • Cyber Security (still ascertaining which specific area(s), there’s a lot more of them than I thought)
  • Quantum Computing
  • Operating Systems
  • TCP/IP Networking
  • Cryptography

I worked in IT support from August 2020 to June 2025 and I’m certified as an IT Infrastructure Technician. I regularly work on Active Directory, Office 365 Administration, backend PowerShell automation, physical hardware repairs of desktops and laptops, certification in Cyber Essentials for 2 years in a row, just to name a few.

I particularly specialise in a system called Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (known as SCCM), which I managed around 1200 Windows hosts and deployed remote software installations, Windows Updates, customised Windows images for reimaging computers over the network and more. I also assist my customers with technical issues and take pride in providing an excellent customer experience, so much that I won the award for outstanding support in 2021 through many nominations from staff members all across the business!

Outside of all things professional, I also enjoy cars, aviation, listening to music and playing piano & guitar, tinkering with Linux and my IT homelab environment, and making people around me laugh in silly ways. I also love learning as much as I can, and sharing my knowledge with others around me. I love the colour purple, in case it wasn’t already obvious from the website’s colours!

Purple!
